A look at the Civil War era in the vernacular and abstract through two different styles of photographic works.
Kirk and Laura use their unique photographic vision to transport viewers into the past, offering a poignant glimpse of America during the Civil War era. Working exclusively in sepia-toned black-and-white imagery, they recreate a world where horses were the primary mode of transportation and the nation was divided between North and South. Their photographs evoke the atmosphere, struggles, and resilience of a defining period in American history, inviting us to reflect on the people, landscapes, and stories that shaped the country. Through their distinctive artistic lens, Kirk and Laura bridge past and present, reminding us of a time that continues to influence America today.
